Coach Morrison also had a competitive career bettering that of Dan Gable. Morrison never lost a match on the mat as a competitor. He wrestled in Marshalltown, Iowa and went on to the University of Illinois. He was the Olympic champion in 1928. Morrison coached
at Omaha Central for 10-12 years with his last four, 1939-42, ending with
state team championships. In 1943 he entered the armed forces and then
returned to Nebraska to coach the newly founded wrestling program at Omaha
