Mr. Kelley could have been nominated in any of the induction categories as he has contributed to the sport wearing many hats. Wrestling for Omaha Tech Kelley was a state champion in 1945 and 1946. Kelley’s accomplishments were not limited to those of a participant but he shared his knowledge and gave of his time to help countless youngsters in the Omaha, Lincoln and Council Bluffs as a volunteer official for kids’ wrestling. He also served stints as a coach in the Police Athletic League and the Omaha home for Boys. Kelley’s greatest
accomplishments came while wearing the referee’s whistle. He was
a charter member of the Metro Coaches’ and Officials’ Association
and was instrumental in that organizations early development. Named the
Metro Area “Official of the Year” and Outstanding Official
of the Nebraska State Tournament were but a few of the honors garnered
by this dedicated man. Nebraska wrestling owes a great deal of gratitude
to this man and the many hours he has dedicated to the betterment of the
