The first NSWCA Hall of Fame Banquet was held in 1982 in Columbus, Nebraska. The brainchild of then President Norm Mansted, it has become an annual event. Charter members were inducted at the inaugural event in the following categories:

Special awards given that evening numbered three and now stand at 14 including: Guy Mytty Outstanding Wrestler, Assistant Coach of the Year, John D. McIntyre-Brett Waltnem Award, Official of the Year, Patron of the Year, Wreslting Family of the Year and Coach's Wife of the Year.
NSWCA members may nominate in any of the above categories. A letter of nomination including the nominee's address, phone number and reason for nomination should be sent to the Executive Secretary-Treasurer at:
