Mark got a taste
for wrestling at an early age, beginning with the Pee Wee Program while
in pre-school. This lasted through junior high. For a lot of wrestlers,
starting that young, this is “burn-out” time, but not for
Mark. It just gave him one more reason to compete in high school. The
Burwell wrestling program was fortunate to have this dedicated young man
in their midst. Attending Burwell High School from 1983-1987, he became
a 3x State Champ, taking 3rd his freshman year. His won-loss records show
28-7, 31-0, 28-0, and 28-0. During that time he wrestled at 145 and 155
lbs. He won a wrestling scholarship to UNL where he attended for one year,
then moved on to Chadron. He coached the Sargent High School Wrestlng
Team in ‘89-’90 and has been selected as a wrestling official
at the State Tournament for the last four years. Mark counts as his biggest
thrill, taking the district crown his freshman year when he had been seeded
fifth and also winning his first state title his sophomore year. He is
being introduced by his former coach and friend, Dom La Rocca of Burwell. Home | Board of Directors | Hall of Fame | All-Star Classic Copyright
