Coach Ralph Karns
journeyed from Connecticut to teach at Doane College in Crete, Nebraska
after earning his college degree from Dartmouth. He joined the staff at
Omaha Technical in 1922 and was its head wrestling coach until 1947. Karns
was known as a strict disciplinarian and was ahead of his time as he implemented
a weight training program for his athletes. His efforts were rewarded
with three state team titles during his career at Tech. Besides his involvement
in the Technical wrestling program he also handled swimming and gymnastics
